This conference marks the launch of World Engineering Day, a global celebration of the contributions made by the engineering profession to sustainable development, and an opportunity to highlight the role that the next generation of engineers will play in building a better future for us all.
2020 also marks the beginning of a Decade of Action where engineers will play a leading role in accelerating progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Throughout the conference, participants brought together leading engineers from across the world supported by the Newton Fund and Global Challenges Research Fund. Their daring innovations, groundbreaking partnerships, and ambitious visions for change are at the forefront of international efforts to solve the rapidly-evolving, increasingly complex challenges of our time.
The aims of this conference are to bring together an international network of the Academy’s awardees, partners and other stakeholders, to network, build partnerships and collaborate, developing new approaches to overcoming shared global development challenges by focusing on the role of engineering education.
