SAICE-Africa project meeting of 24 August 2020

A zoom meeting held on 24 August 20201 discussing the progress of the SAICE-Africa project. The agenda of the meeting was:

Actions from the Skype meeting held on 14 Feb 2020;

Management of the project during the period March-August 2020(Overview of the COVID-19 crisis in partner university countries, achievements, and challenges);

Extension of the project duration by the Royal Academy of Engineering;

Organization of workshops and conferences:

  • Timeline, contents, and implementation plan of the first workshop (to be held virtually due to COVID-19);
  • Timeline, contents, and implementation plan of the second workshop (to replace the initially-planned international research conference due to COVID-19; Maybe held physically or virtually depending on the evolution of the pandemic);
  • Timeline, contents, and implementation plan of the third workshop (to be held physically/face-to-face in the end of 2021);
  • Timeline, contents, and implementation plan of the international research conference (to be held physically/face-to-face at the end of 2021);

Preparation for the virtual workshops: Training on the use of Zoom (timelines, etc);

Implementation of other activities of the project:

  • Academia-industry linkage through MoUs: Targets, achievements, and challenges;
  • Industrial secondment: Targets, achievements, and challenges;
  • Purchase of lab equipment: Targets and timelines;
  • Research visits and publication of research papers: Targets and timelines;

Project monitoring and evaluation:

  • Visits of the project coordinator to each spoke university (timelines, etc)
  • Visit of representatives of the Royal Academy of Engineering to the hub university (timeline, etc);

Sustainability plan of the project;
